"Recent finds from Vindolanda" with Barbara Birley

Barbara Birley is the Curator for the Vindolanda Trust,  where her work includes the conservation, cataloguing, and display of the Roman artefacts found at the Vindolanda and Magna sites. She has published on Roman material culture including jewellery and combs found at Vindolanda, as well as on public engagement with archaeology with a special interest in digital programmes, especially archaeogaming. She manages the contemporary arts projects, archives project and oversees the museum and archive volunteers for the Trust.

Barbara’s talk will focus on the recent excavation programmes at Vindolanda and Magna. It will review the objects and what they are revealing as a work in progress. She will also highlight some of her recent work into Roman textiles from the site.
